Auto Answer Settings

Item
Explanation
Auto Answer
Off
Recommended for users who do not fax often, or who want to receive a fax after answering calls with the connected telephone.
On
Recommended for heavy fax users. The printer automatically receives a fax after the number of rings you specified. Select this When you do not connect a telephone to the printer.
Number of Rings to Answer
Configures the number of rings to answer for receiving fax. If you set too large a number, faxes may not be received depending on the fax settings of the sender.
Caution:
If there is an answer machine connected to the printer, set the number of rings before the printer answers to a higher number than for the answering machine (settings may differ by country). If the number is lower, callers will not be able to leave messages as the printer will answer the call and begin fax reception.

Dial Tone Detection Settings

Item
Explanation
Detect Dial Tone
Sets whether or not to start dialing after detecting a dial tone. This function enables you to dial speedily and prevents connection errors. Deselect it when you cannot dial depending on the connection environment.
Caution:
Depending on the environment, clearing Detect Dial Tone may remove the first digit from the fax number, resulting in the fax being sent to the wrong number.
