Checking the FAX Function Status of Your Printer
You can check whether the FAX function of your printer operates normally. The result of the test is printed as a report. If a problem is found, troubleshoot by checking the information in the report.
Make sure the printer is connected.
- The printer must be connected to your computer via USB or network.
- The printer must be connected to a telephone line, and must be able to send/receive faxes without connecting to a computer. For details, see the printer’s manual.
Load A4 or Letter plain paper (depending on the country/region) into the printer.
Start FAX Utility.
Select FAX XXXXXX (your printer) from Printer, and then click Check Fax Connection.
Check the information in the dialog, and then click Start.
The check starts and the results are displayed in a window. The report is also printed out. If a problem is found, troubleshoot by checking the information in the report.
 Note:
If your printer has a security function that allows administrators to restrict users from changing the printer's fax settings, you may need to enter an administrator password to continue.
